Welcome! The American Hotel was built ca. 1842 by Nicholas LaRue. After being vacant for more than 30 years, current owners Doug Plummer and Garth Roberts purchased the decaying structure in 1996. After an extensive five year renovation, the American re-opened its doors May 23, 2001. Now celebrating it's 17th season, the American Hotel has become a favorite getaway to thousands of visitors throughout the year. With a village-wide revitalization underway, Sharon Springs hosts many events throughout the year including The Garden Party, Harvest Festival, and the annual Run 4 The Hills for First Responders!

“Just came back from a fantastic stay at the American Hotel. This Hotel is so so beautiful and so clean. We slept so comfortable, and ate the most delicious food at this hotel! From the time we first walked in we felt so welcomed. We felt like home. The staff were fantastic. I don't want to forget Garth and Doug who own this amazing hotel. All the work they did to preserve this historical hotel is a amazing. Job well done! We already booked for next year.”
